Foreign oil isn't the problem, it's consumption


"If we were to magically wake up tomorrow and find that we could satisfy all of our demand for oil domestically, without having to import a barrel of oil," he said, "it would really not make any difference in terms of our national security, economic security or vulnerability to oil stocks."

Sorry but this guy gives no evidence to support his claim. Sure I agree we are consuming too much, but I don't see how having all our oil produced domestically would not help our national security, economic security, etc.

Can anyone fill in the blanks this guy left out?
